Three things we learned from the Hungarian GrandPrix 2023, RedBull breaks record that stood for 35 years!!!

So we are half way now through the F1 2023 season and okay Hungary won’t be a race that’ll live in the memory from a racing spectacle point of view however from a historical standpoint and for some other reasons for McLaren it’ll be a race hundred percent that RedBull, Max, Norris and McLaren will certainly all be chuffed about.

Here are three things we learned Hungary 2023.

RedBull and Max starting to break records!

Now we knew this season is already about Max and that RB19 but whilst RedBull been dominant, to break a record that has stood for 35 years is simply admirable. And you have to question when? Where? And who? Is going to stop them? Even in the races where you’d think they’ve struggled a bit more but they’ve still managed to find a way through and ultimately Vettel’s record of nine race wins in a row is in serious threat of being either matched or broken altogether!!

And in F1 unlike football it’s a lot harder to build these race winning streaks especially by a single driver because it’s not just the team here who’s been perfect but it’s the driver as well and ultimately it’s very hard for a driver to do that because I can’t remember who said it, it was either Lewis or Nico Rosberg, but In F1 it’s about having little peaks during the season, so no driver will ever bring the A game to ever and each GrandPrix but of course that’s exactly what Max has almost been doing, it what Sebastian Vettel did and even on the days where you think they’re looking a bit shaken or dejected but they still somehow have found a way through it and win those GrandPrixs. It’s simply breathtaking to watch and I know some people will criticise it as boring but for me you are watching history literally being created and your watching potentially something which may not happen again for another 35 years or even this race wins in row be broken for Max for another 10 or 15 years.

McLaren are back.

Now I been a bit hesitant to say McLaren are back but they are and the no hiding it now. It’s clear the upgrades have worked and it’s clear they for rest of season will be a team to be reckoned with. It wouldn’t shock me if they even overtake Ferrari in the constructors, because they’re picking enough points up to do so at the moment and for Ferrari it’s been another season of underwhelming results. And when you look at AstonMartin they’ve also dropped the ball, so McLaren could even find themselves in third come end of this season. And how they’ve done it is remarkable to literally leap frog every single team besides RedBull. Put it this way McLaren could’ve had two wins if only Max Verstappen didn’t exist

That’s two more than what Ferrari would’ve achieved! And you got to take your hats off to the Woking based outfit because they’ve definitely delivered. But the fact they’ve gone and out developed 8 out of the 10 teams within the sport is simply incredible achievement. And yes the long way to go points wise before they can realistically look down the barrel at fourth in the constructors or even third but the clearly light at the end of the tunnel. And all that hard work, hard graft has clearly paid off for them and also it gives I think F1 2023 in what’s been a season dominated by RedBull and Max, just a new and fresh feel good story to talk about! Start of the season we was talking AstonMartin and now we’re talking about the rejuvenation of another British team that struggled but has come through. And that’s fantastic to see what’s happened here.

What’s happened to Aston Martin?

Now for McLaren it’s all positive talk but AstonMartin have now gone three races in a row without a podium and in fact without even a top 4 race result. The last best result was Austria where they picked up 5th but since then they’ve been nowhere and even in Austria they was a bit fortunate to get 5th due to penalties being applied post race. It really makes me question what’s gone wrong since Canada?

I am sure they’ll be asking themselves the same question however having said that almost a bit like Ferrari in some sense they don’t appear to able to give much more of an answer.

And that’s concerning, have they been out developed? Have they put something onto the car that doesn’t work or is it a tyre problem due to the mid season change in tyre compound structure? Honestly that’s the big question that need answering and again like Ferrari unless they get the house in order then the real credible threat that they could be caught in the Constructors by a team that up to now has been nowhere all season and only scored 17 points prior to Austria! For AstonMartin I feel they need to find a answer and solution within the next two races otherwise they’re going to be quickly getting dragged into a fight for 4th and 5th and not consolidating a third place constructors finish of which they should be doing and able to achieve. In fact they should’ve been second in truth had they had a better teammate to compliment Alonso because 139 of AstonMartin 184 points are thanks to Fernando.

So those are my three learning from Hungarian GrandPrix also I would’ve said about Ricciardo proving Marko decision right but I am not going to just yet as I want to see how he gets on in Belgium Vs Yuki Tsunoda?
