Who are the winners and losers from testing in Bahrain 2021? Are Mercedes-powered cars in trouble?

I don't think Mercedes are in trouble but I am really hopeful that Honda can be a serious threat this year. At the end of the morning session Perez was well-up and in the closing minutes Hamilton, Tzunoda and Max were on C5, C5 and C4 tyres respectively, trying to do a hot lap.

The importance of the times set will be played down of course with teams saying we drove with so and so many kgs of fuel, but in the end Honda was quicker with Max just ahead of Tsunoda.

The afternoon/evening session was quicker because the circumstances were better, so the times of this morning are low on the chart. There were problems for Aston Martin (engine/turbo) which kept the car in the pits.

Honda are the winners, I think, Haas and Aston Martin were not. Especially Aston Martin disappointed because more was expected from them with all the new Mercedes technology (rear suspension) and momentum from last year.

Mercedes are not winners this weekend either. Yesterday I confidently said that Hamilton would top the charts today and he didn't.

Having said all this it is as always impossible to predict the standings for the race in two weeks' time. But my curiosity has grown and I'm really pleased the F1 year has started.

It’s time to go.

It’s time to go! Those where the famous words of Arsenal fan, AFTV legend Claude Callegari. Now okay I’m not sure if Claude was a Formula One fan but I think had of been he’d agree with what I’m about to say. Bottas, It’s time to go.  Either Mercedes needs to make the decision or Bottas needs to step back and away from F1. In fact if I was Bottas I’d take a sabbatical for at least the remaining races in 2021! If Mercedes wants to maintain the Constructors championship they’re gonna need two world class drivers week in and week out. If you look Bottas season so far it’s by far his worst start to his Mercedes career and ultimately he looks emotionally done. Three things we learned from 2023 British GrandPrix? Oscar Piastri is a star of the future!

​ Silverstone that was an interesting one, we had sun, rain, clouds, competition, chaos and Max reigning supreme ALL IN ONE. I thoroughly enjoyed watched the 2023 British GrandPrix, some might say it was like watching a movie, ironic that is because the was actually movie shooting going on for the new film coming soon I think in 2025 or 2026 it’ll be, but it’s nice to see how Hollywood comes to F1 and F1 produces It’s best race and action that we’ve had all year so far.
