Three things we learned from 2023 British GrandPrix? Oscar Piastri is a star of the future!

Silverstone that was an interesting one, we had sun, rain, clouds, competition, chaos and Max reigning supreme ALL IN ONE. I thoroughly enjoyed watched the 2023 British GrandPrix, some might say it was like watching a movie, ironic that is because the was actually movie shooting going on for the new film coming soon I think in 2025 or 2026 it’ll be, but it’s nice to see how Hollywood comes to F1 and F1 produces It’s best race and action that we’ve had all year so far. But here’s three or this week four things we’ve learned from the British GrandPrix.

Oscar Piastri is a star of the future!

Now in 2023 we’ve got ourselves three new rookies on the grid, AlphaTauri Nyck De Vries, Williams Logan Sargeant and finally McLaren Oscar Piastri and so far all three of them up to this point for various reasons have been pretty tricky to gauge where they truly are and that can be put down to many different reason and none more so then not having had the nicest of cars to drive but since McLaren upgrade package at Austria and further updates at Silverstone saw McLaren make a big giant leap forward in lap time that was so good it means they took the second most amount of points of all teams only 4 less then RedBull!

If you told a McLaren fan after Bahrain that at the British Grand Prix that the team would be 2nd and 3rd in qualifying and then go on to take a podium of P2 and finish respectively P4 with rookie driver Oscar Piastri they’d of dialled 999 and called you ambulance telling the call operator that they’re stood in front of a mad person! Literally all McLaren fans would’ve thought you are literally bonkers and crazy in making such a wild presumption but at same time whilst this is true the McLaren struggle has meant it been difficult to truly establish how good Oscar is and he’s not just good but he’s a champion in the making. In fact one thing he really excelled in making short corners and this is something that’s standout in Max’s driving style.

Oscar should’ve and could’ve got his first ever podium and to be only a tenth of his teammate in qualifying and then be ultimately quick in the race to me showed how brilliant he truly is.

British GrandPrix delivered again!

Last season in my ranking and I think many people opinion Silverstone in 2022 was best race of them and ultimately it done it again! What a race, what a race weekend in general from FP1 all the way until the chequered flag, it was just great to watch and in what so far many people consider a dull season given how little competition RedBull and Max Verstappen have had this season but this was a small beacon of hope during what’s been a season of domination.

We had everything from battles for the lead and for podium position down to the last points to a exciting qualifying and interchangeable conditions with the track starting out damp and transitioning into a dry slick track to where we seen a McLaren resurgence at the home race taking 30pts only 4 points of what RedBull scored this weekend.

Overall I would say this is best GrandPrix by far this season exactly for those reasons and has eclipsed what we had earlier on in the year in Melbourne. But British GrandPrix did deliver once again best racing we’ve had this season thus this far.

Sebastian Vettel 9 wins in a row about to broken?

Look the still 3 more races Max must win in order to match the record however I do believe he’s capable of doing it as was Sebastian and for the first time in 10 years I think we genuinely have to ask the question is Max about to beat Vettel’s 9 wins a row or match it?

He’s already on 6, if he wins in Hungary that’ll be 7, Belgium on 30th July could be 8 wins and then after F1 summer break Netherlands would be the race where he can grab his 9th consecutive win and Italy is the one where he can break the record that was set back in 2013.

But to achieve this record a driver must be perfect and at one with his car and can’t make a mistake and neither can the team and right now that’s the type of form Max is in right now, no mistakes, everything is near perfection at moment with RedBull on Max’s side of the garage and ultimately what we are witnessing is just that perfect combo of driver and car coming together and creating a unbeatable force for everyone to watch.

Understandably it means it boring for everyone who’s unfortunately watching unless you watch the battle for P5 or something but nonetheless Max is doing such a great job you just got questions how many more can he bag? He’s already got 9 wins in this season alone and got 12 races even to break his own record of 15 wins in a single season but could he also break the record for most consecutive wins in a season? Absolutely! His form right now is impeccable and it’s for some boring but for me It leaves me in awe seeing this type of greatness.

This is truly sporting greatness at its best and that’s without dispute. To see a driver or team reach these heights is truly remarkable what both Max and RedBull are achieving here.

Shoot out for Perez SEAT?

I know this is meant to be three things we learned but on Tuesday as I was writing this up we suddenly learned Nyck De Vries had be kicked out of AlphaTauri and replaced by Daniel Ricciardo. But I believe the more to it then meets the eye and yes I believe RedBull of course decided this based on fact 1) Nyck had too many crashes and cost team too much money in damages, 2) performance compared to his teammate wasn’t good enough and yes AlphaTauri maybe got the worst car in performance wise this season but still despite that De Vries been a long way off his teammate and 3) Perez! I truly believe that this has a lot to do with fact Perez form over now last 5 races has taken a dip and RedBull are concerned and exploring options upon 2024?? So far it can’t be ignored that the fact is Perez doesn’t have a contract beyond 2023 with RedBull and that’s despite the 5 podium and 2 wins he’s achieved this season?

Ricciardo has been brought back to maybe help give AlphaTauri a performance boost but this is also a chance to RedBull to look at 3 drivers between Yuki Tsunoda, Sergio Perez and Daniel Ricciardo and then I believe make a decision about who’s going where. I think if Daniel proves he’s got some pace within him and more then Yuki the is real possibility if Perez doesn’t improve then he’ll get that seat for 2024?

Ricciardo now just has to show RedBull that he can outperform Tsunoda.

But I am looking forward to next race even more in Hungary because Ricciardo will be back on the grid and personally I love that fact he’ll be back because I believe whilst things didn’t work out at McLaren but the are things deeper there then what meets the naked eye and what meets our insights. It’s not just Ricciardo was bad because you look at McLaren and first half of this season and they gave the drivers a car of which both Norris and Piastri was unhappy with do maybe the problem wasn’t Ricciardo but rather a hidden Key????

In case who you don’t know who I am referring to here it’s James Key who’s former Technical Director of McLaren until the start of 2023 where they parted ways this season.
