F1 Saudi Arabia πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¦ GP major takeaways! Is F1 future in Saudi Arabia LEFT in doubt???

This weekend saw F1 head to the Saudi Arabian streets of Jeddah and here are my takeaways from this weekend GrandPrix!

Saudi Arabian GP - where there was action both on and off the circuit!

  1. Mercedes season is over! So I guess the first major and significant takeaway is for the Mercedes team! And last weeks Bahrain GrandPrix I highlighted the fact Mercedes could be in real trouble and this weekend confirmed all but that! their season is over - especially for Lewis Hamilton. The car is so far behind the competition it isn’t funny. When your lead driver is battling it out with Haas and Alfa Romeo for tenth position, in order to get a point, you know things are bad.
  2. RedBull Vs Ferrari and Max vs Charles? Both Red Bull and Ferrari have got their respective cars right. And it just isn’t for their lead drivers Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc. Both their number two drivers (which their teams don’t call them that but whatever) Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez are also taking up the fight for the WDC. And although Sergio has had a little bit of bad luck, but his pole position was pure skill. So I look forward to a possible four-way battle this year and it is something long overdue. Furthermore it’s been confirmed that the Ferrari is quick in the hands of Leclerc. That’s now two races in a row where he has gotten the fastest lap as a result and has fought for the win! Now two points may not look like much, but when the points are finalised at the end of the season, if he can continue to accumulate such points, he could well win his first WDC as I suspect it’s going to be an extremely competitive year.
  3. Future of Saudi Arabia πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¦ GrandPrix left in DOUBT? after the missile attack on an oil depot just up the street… (7 miles away) leaves the newly introduced race to the calendar with a shadow of doubt hanging over it! everyone could clearly see from the track itself, it’s been reported that none of the drivers where keen to hold the race. A whole lot of effort, including a four hour meeting on Friday night, Had to be made in order to convince the drivers to go ahead with the race. And of course then there’s the human rights issues involved, which have been highlighted by Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel as whole with also other who shares those concerns.

So those are my three major takeaways! Can Mercedes recover? How long will it take them to fix their internal issues? Who’ll come out on top in the battle between RedBull and Ferrari and will F1 return to Saudi Arabia after this weekend???
