Why Lewis didn’t deserve the 2021 Championship despite Michael Masi so-called ‘ERROR’ ???

Now we’re two months on from the AbuDhabiGP controversy and two months later in this article/blog I’ll explain or try to at least explain why I think Hamilton didn’t deserve to become champion.

Now look I’m not going to try to underplay what Hamilton’s achieved during last season but what I am going to do is explain why Max deserved it more then Lewis.

Now both throughout the 2021 season both drove fantastically and arguably 2021 was the BEST F1 championship battle for many of years but the question is who deserved it more Max or Lewis? Now many fans will argue with Masi removal from F1 race director would indicate that FIA admitting to Masi not applying the rules correctly and whilst this is one possible conclusion however it could also be argued considering they’re offering him a new role would suggest otherwise and more of a protection around Masi and the Race Director role.

But in my opinion at least regardless whether or not Masi is removed or sacked doesn’t make a difference. Max performance was better throughout the 2021 season overall over Lewis.

Every single metric Max outperformed Lewis!

Most podiums? Max!

Most Wins? Max!

Most poles? Max!

Most fastest laps? Max!

Most laps led? Max!

Most KM led? Max!

Most Points? Max!

Okay some people will be dismissive of these things but personally myself I think you can’t be! Because this shows, this is evident and is proof that Max was a worthy champion. Max led throughout the 2021 season a total of 652 laps in 2021! Whereas Lewis only led 297! That’s a significant difference! And it’s not even close! Now I know people may say but Verstappen had the best car and this maybe true but ultimately what’s also true is Verstappen was performing at a extremely high level. Also another point I’ll make is that out of the 22 races from last season Max finished 19 of them and 18 of those 19 race Max managed to finish he scored a total of 18 podiums of either 1st or 2nd! If you infact remove 4 races! Azerbaijan, Silverstone, Hungary and Italy, these 4 events if you removed them you’d find that as well Verstappen only drops 2 points of his total score! Which would drop from 395.5 to 393.5! Whereas Lewis total dropped from 387.5 to 344.5! So what does that tell you?

Also I’ll add furthermore Max was also in addition to this more consistent! Out of the 19 races in which he managed to finish he scored a total of 18 podiums finishing either 1st or 2nd! And the one time where he finished a race but not on the podium was Hungary where he had a massive amount of damage to his car but yet managed to scrape 2 solid points. Those two points equates to 0.51% of Max Verstappen overall tally of points in the championship.

What that means is 99.49% of Max points came from the PODIUM!

Mean while Hamilton only managed 92.49% of points scored from the podium. Now one could argue Hamilton for majority of the season had the slower car and this maybe true but what’s also true is Max Verstappen level of consistency was beyond belief.

I think for me it’s clear Max was the worthier Champion of the two drivers. I think Lewis for sure should’ve won AbuDhabi and what happened may have been a costly error but I think when you look at the data, do the maths and look at the facts I truly believe Max was the worthy champ and the data supports this. I think some people will for sure in the immediate future accept this but I think give it 5 or 10 years and people will see and reflect back and will see that yes Max was the more worthy champion of the two drivers. Still either way 2022 is upon us and hopefully we can have a great 2022 F1 season filled with more of the on track action and less of the controversies.
